The Code Book Online

The Code Book on CD-ROM is now available online for free download. This CD-ROM was designed to accompany The Code Book, and is not an e-book. To find out what's on the CD, visit About the CD-ROM.

  • The Code Book on CD-ROM will only work on PCs running Windows.

The download is a simple process, and we've put together a set of step-by-step instructions to make it as straightforward as possible. You should use the README file to guide you.

  • Two versions are available:
  • codebook.zip - the complete version, 600Mb, takes 3 hours to download on a standard household broadband connection (rated at 512kbps). Download codebook.zip Link broken? Try this mirror
  • code-book-lite.zip - a cut-down version with video clips removed, less than 10% the size of the full version, which takes less than 15 minutes to download on broadband. Download codebook-lite.zip
     
  • Once you have downloaded the file, you can either install it directly onto your computer, or use a CD-ROM writer to burn your own copy of The Code Book on CD-ROM.
  • Just follow the instructions in the README file.
  • The README file includes details of exactly how much hard disc space you will need for the download.
  • Some users who run Microsft Windows Vista have encountered some problems running videos on the CD-ROM. This can be fixed by downloading this patch. (Instructions are contained inside the zip file).
