Personal websites are
inherently self-indulgent, and the biography section
is where self-indulgence reaches a record high. Here
you will find a short, formal, boring biography, as well as a longer, chirpier, more
colourful biography, which reveals how I got interested
in science as a child and how I eventually turned to
the dark side and became a journalist.
You will also find
a brief description of what I do and details
of my brilliant literary agent. In due course, you will also find a list of articles
that have been written about me, a press pack,
including photographs, and a CV.
If there is something
in particular that you want to find out about (e.g.,
Fermat's Last Theorem,
my first book), then you should head straight to relevant
section of the site. And even things like
'How I got into TV' and 'How I write'
are in the TV and Books sections respectively.

I wasn't always relaxed in front of the camera.
If you look carefully, you can even see my dad's hand
in the bottom right, propping me up. |
